Kids Activities: Water Sponge Bombs

water play Kids Activities Water Sponge Bombs 10

One thing I love about summer is all of the fun you can have outside. There are so many more kids activities during the summer and this is one of our favorites! We love a good water balloon fight, but with these water sponge bombs you don’t have to be constantly filling up balloons and picking up tiny pieces all through your yard.

As an added bonus, these sponge bombs are so easy to make! We picked up a package of *sponges, a mop refill and some handi wipes reusable cloths and some zip ties.

Start by cutting all of the items listed above. I originally cut the sponge in 3, but decided after making the first one to cut them into 4 strips. Cut them tall wise. Then cut up the mop and the handi wipes.

Then lay all of the pieces you want over the zip tie. I just randomly put things on folding the mop pieces in half and the strips of Handi wipes. There isn’t an exact science to this process and each sponge I made had different amounts of items in it, but they all turned out great. Kids Activities Water Sponge Bombs 7

After you have all of the pieces laid out, pull the zip tie shut as tight as you can.

Then cut off the remaining piece of the zip tie as close as you can making sure nothing sharp is left behind.

At first I was worried about how much of the zip tie showed, but after it got wet they hid quite nicely inside of the sponge and the kids played for over an hour with no issues.

See, you cant even see them when they are full of water. These are seriously the best thing since sliced bread for the kids.

This is by far my favorite kids activities so far this summer! They played for over an hour and I didn’t have to constantly be filling up balloons, total mom bonus! Just give them a couple buckets of water and they can go to town!

Hope you have a wonderful time with this activity for the kids and enjoy your summer to the fullest extent!

That looks like so much fun…if you’re a kid, that is. Or a big one! :)

That is my thinking too…we don’t have a pool so this is the next best thing. They get way more wet than they do with water balloons, and they are a blast to play with!

Love this idea – I have a toddler who LOVES water, so will definitely give these a go in summer. :)

They are a blast. We are taking them to camp this week because there is no water to play in and it is going to be hot! Cant wait to see all of the other kiddos playing with them!

What a fun activity, I am totally going to save this one for future use. We go through summer toys faster than I ever thought humanly possible.
