Do you have a love for moss, or is it just me? I am here today to show you a super simple way to cover anything in moss. Backstory: I love the look of it so much that my craft store American Clutter was actually going to be called “The Moss” but when we went to legalize everything there were 256 businesses in PA alone with some sort of “The Moss” in their title! BOO..but it worked out well because we LOVE the name American Clutter and it suits us so much more than “The Moss” because we upcycle and junk!
Yep, if you have not heard of it or used it, you are missing out! When I first started using moss on projects I would buy the bags of moss that would rip apart and I would have to glue individual sections to the projects and it was a pain in the tush! Then I found moss ribbon and my life was forever changed! Don’t get me wrong, I still use all kinds of moss but for little projects you want to be precise, this stuff is a time saver for sure!
Lets get started, shall we! First find an object you want to cover in moss and then grab your moss ribbon and your hot glue gun.
Find a starting point and add some glue. Then press the ribbon on. Be careful because the glue will come through the ribbon and burn your pretty little fingers! This is why I highly recommend THESE when using high temp glue guns! I cannot tell you how many times they have saved my fingers on projects!
I cut one piece to glue it on because I was worried the curves would make the ribbon really lumpy. But it was not necessary. You just push it down into the glue and it flattens out and seriously looks like the moss just grew out of the heart all on its own! So just work in small sections and add glue and push the ribbon down as you go.
When you get to the end just cut the ribbon off. You see that white strand there that is part of the backing, well don’t worry about that. Once I glued it into place and pushed the moss down you could not even see it!
See! You can not even tell where the moss ribbon ends. It looks so natural and is flat on the wood making it look super natural! It is seriously so easy to use this stuff and cover anything you can think of!
Have you tried the ribbon before? What have you used it on. I would love to see other projects using this lovely stuff. You can either go to the link party and link it up, or leave a link in the comments. I think a round up of moss covered goodies for Easter is in order!
