Is it too soon to bust out the Christmas decor and sing holiday tunes while I decorate?! Please say no!!
I always get giddy when Christmas time rolls around. Not only because my daughter starts writing her list for good ole St. Nick but because I seriously love the atmosphere farmhouse Christmas decor brings to my home.
If you have read my blog for more than a minute you know I am an upcycler by nature. A junker. A picker. A thrifter. Whatever you want to call me. So I love hitting up my local thrift shops scouring the shelves with my eye lids taped open. And last week when I was at Goodwill I found this awesome hand crafted wooden car! Score!!
I took my time with it when I got it back to my shop admiring the simple lines and craftsman ship of the piece. Hey, you have to take time to stop and smell the roses. In my case I like to stop and admire things that were hand crafted imagining who would have made it and how much fun they had creating their pieces.
I grabbed by red chalk paint, twine, mini tree and briwax and got to work. If you do not know what briwax is or how to use it here is a great little video I did for you so you can get to know this divine product a little better!
I painted it red and then applied Briwax once the paint dries.
See how the briwax instantly changed the look and gave it a rustic vintage texture! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff!
Next I wanted to add the mini tree but I didn’t like the plastic bottom on it. I grabbed by wire cutters and about chopped it off when I realized that it just unscrewed! Extra steps averted! Whew!
Then I went outside and found a tree branch. Good thing it was a windy day and there were plenty of twigs laying on the ground. I cut about an inch off of the twig.
Then I screwed it back onto the tree. It went on so smoothly. This project was meant to be!
Is it not just a pretty photo to look at. I love frosted trees. They are just so mesmerizing.
Tie the tree on the roof with some twine and find a place to put this gem IMMEDIATELY!
Feel free to share this project with all of your friends because keeping it to yourself is no fun, no fun at all!
