I am totally addicted to coffee and I really never thought about putting it on my body until today. Let me tell you what…best decision EVER!
What are the benefits of a coffee scrub?
Coffee contains caffeine which can work wonders on your skin. It can reduce the appearance of cellulite for a few hours, it can treat redness and reduce inflammation, it can even reduce under eye circles. It also plays a great role on your senses. The aroma of coffee can act as an anti-depressant, can reduce nausea, and help clear your mind.
Caffeine is also a natural antioxidant. Antioxidant’s have many health benefits from their cancer fighting properties to neutralizing the free radicals that can cause damage to the inner layer of your skin creating sun spots and wrinkles. Say goodbye to premature aging!
Basically it can give you smooth, toned, glowing skin. Sign me up!
1/2 cup fresh coffee
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup coconut oil
8-10 drops Frankincense oil (optional but amazing)
**I am addicted to essential oils, but I am going to warn you. There are only certain brands that are meant to be ingested. Not every oil is PURE like the labels say so please make sure you read the fine print on the back of the bottles before you ingest anything. I found this out the hard way.
Now I only use doTERRA and so many of my friends wanted to get oils that it turned into a little side business, so if you are interested in getting oils you can go to www. mydoterra .com/jessicabures (remove spaces) id# 2063015 and pick some up…most people start with the Natural solutions package and sign up for a wholesale membership (not preferred..preferred members only get 20% off purchases and the package is more expensive, wholesale gets 25%!! plus there are more perks with the wholesale account).
If you have questions about what to get please reach out to me so I can walk you through the steps and answer any of your oil questions. I have done a lot of research and love sharing my knowledge with anyone interested in learning!**
Benefits of Frankincense oil:
Frankincense oil is one of my favorites to use daily for so many reasons. It is the king of oils. That means that there are so many properties to Frank that if you do not know what oil to use for what reason, you could grab frank and he would work perfectly! It is one oil I always have on hand!
So here are just a few of my favorite things about good ole Frank…
- It can be used to help reduce acne blemishes.
- It can be used to minimize the appearance of large pores.
- A preventative to wrinkles and fine lines.
- It can even lift and tighten skin to naturally slow the signs of aging.
- Reduces stress
- Helps relieve inflammation
- Helps boost the immune system
- Balances hormone levels!!
That is just a small amount of the great things this oil can be used for, but you can see why I need it daily! Did you know that Cleopatra actually burnt frankincense plants and used the char for her eyeliner in her spa! How fun is that! Plus not to mention if it was good enough for Jesus, it better be good enough for us!
So lets make this stuff already!
Add the coffee grounds (not used) and the brown sugar to your jar. Then add 1/4 cup of fractionated coconut oil..which has so many health benefits for us too! Fractionated coconut oil is the same as the jar of white coconut oil, it just has the fat cells removed so that it will not harden. You could use either of them for this, one will just be more of a cream where this one is a little dryer.
Then add your drops of Frank. (ok, do not mind my unfortunate nail polish. I swear I had good intentions of doing my nails before taking photos. Then I saw a SQUIRREL and got side tracked. Oops)
Mix it all together and close it up until you are ready to use it.
How to apply:
Rub on dry skin in circular motions all over your body, and yes you can do your face too. It does get very very messy. So stand in your shower as you apply it. Then turn on some jams, do the running man and dance around for 10-20 minutes as it works in and penetrates your skin. (If you know me then you know I totally did that!)
Then rinse off in the shower. My skin feels sooo smooth and I can already see the difference in my stretch marks and cough cough cellulite!
I am pretty sure that I got more of a coffee buzz from this than I do drinking it. I will be doing this a few times a week to help nurture my skin and keep me looking young and glowing!
So there you have it. A powerful beautifying coffee scrub that leaves you feeling softer than a baby. Not even kidding.
